Behind Door N.13 (in development)

Produced by Martin Delaney

An intimate, cinematic portrait of British artist Michael Challenger, the master of hard-edge geometric and Op Art. For over four decades, Challenger has lived and worked behind a seemingly ordinary, yet famous green door in the heart of London’s bustling Borough Market.

The documentary traces his extraordinary journey, from a youth fascinated by engineering and breaking the sound barrier to becoming a renowned painter, sculptor, and printmaker. Through revisiting key locations in Italy and Germany where his early, illusionary canvases gained notoriety, the film reveals the immense discipline, passion for music, which he calls "visual sound", and personal sacrifice required to sustain a lifetime of creation.
